if you buy a moxie fan token and sell into profit, the profit difference is yours to keep, no vesting required. The vested amount goes back to jail to finish its 180 day lockup.

Which makes sense, they shouldn't be locking more and more of your tokens just because you bought with unvested tokens. Good that they thought that through to keep it fair and reduce any friction around buying FT.
