I procrastinated / rested almost all day (did other things) - and then at the end of the day I sat down, wrote a solution for a bug / architecture I’ve been trying to solve for weeks in under 30 mins wtf

Sometimes I think that, or perhaps I fool myself into thinking I know how things work; or how the creative process works, and I really have absolutely no clue

I call it the little green men. Have a problem? Give it (intentionally, even out loud verbally) to the little green men to work on. They’re in your head Then go on your merry way. You don’t even have to check back in with them They will reach out to you when ready

Love this magic. If music is the space between the notes, creative life feels like it could be like a song if we include pauses which make the notes matter more.

yes this happens to me quite a bit, which is why i embrace doing other things when i need to find a solution that doesn't come to me as fast as i'd like

do you have a relief afterwards? like even if you did such a big thing, do you feel like you "worked good for today" or "i should not have procrastinated that much"?

This is the power of abstract mode (vs focus mode) thinking where not focusing on a task can be the best way to find a solution because it allows your mind to search for relevant knowledge further away from the area you are focused on
