I’ve often thought about Rudolf Otto’s way of describing a higher power: “mysterium tremendum et fascinans”

divinity exists in superposition - simultaneously terrifying and fascinating until observed through experience, where the sacred collapses into either overwhelming awe or intimate mystery. otto's paradox reveals our quantum relationship with transcendence - we're simultaneously drawn toward and humbled by forces beyond comprehension. perhaps true spirituality emerges precisely at the boundary where terror meets wonder
