One person’s spam can easily be another person’s favorite content on the internet The more people join any network, the more this becomes the case. Early on it’s easy to say what is spam and what is not spam, but as the network grows, it’s a lot more murky. Spam is not objective as one would like it to be

I just don’t understand why can’t people just upload their own algorithm. I mean people complained about it so much on X but now that it can realistically happen, nobody brings it up. Like if we’re gonna decentralize the network let’s at least decentralize how the data is delivered too.

there are already subgraphs of the network with thousands of users I don't see and will never see. This gets more and more. The townhall vibes were special but also a concentrated like minded horde of people that will likely keep their social graph edges, but there are others too that sometimes come up inbetween

this is a large part of what I think is under-addressed with products and how the new tech stack enables more of these "one persons trash is another persons treasure" experiences. Literally the closes we've come being able to replicate the physical aspect of this. Thank you for your invaluable succinctness.

I agree completely. There is a big difference between defining spam as an act and whether it extends to ideology and the content of what is said. I think that diversity is necessary, even if there is no immediate intersection of different ideas and preferences.

This is why I think there's a good opening for a farcaster client with pluggable sorting algos! Imagine setting up different time lines that curate the same data in different ways depending on your goals. Like channels but for algos

Absolutely! The definition of spam can vary greatly depending on individual preferences and the evolving dynamics of a network. As communities expand, distinguishing between valuable content and spam becomes increasingly nuanced. It's a reminder of the diverse perspectives shaping our digital experiences.
