I go on Instagram, Twitter or TikTok and I just feel overwhelmed more and more - like I’m being electrocuted forcibly with Dopamine and amazing things and terrible things just getting mainlined extreme things (both positive and negative)

I plug in and plug out. I used to have a lot of FOMO when I was younger but now I know that if I just take some time off and touch grass, make some art and not use social media. Nothing will change. None of this will go away and those who care will stick around no matter what.

I’ve adjusted my social media consumption a ton since jumping on here. Hardly use IG, TikTok or Facebook anymore. Anything really interesting on IG or TikTok will find its way here or to Twitter. (And FB is just for saying HBD now and posting kid pic for the fam). I still check Twitter daily but much less than ever.

For me they are overwhelming most of the time. Even Farcaster. I try to apply different mode of thinking about it but it’s hard to find something that works and doesn’t induce tension. I try to limit it. I only use Instagram Stories now (for family and friends) and Farcaster for everything else. Even YouTube started to feel like TV from two decades ago with all those screaming faces in thumbnails and provocative headlines. Books, coding, and solitude be my comfort.

I am even overwhelmed by FC and that is not as bad as other social media. It's a shame youtube is like that too - always enticing you with something else after you watch what you came there to watch.
