We have an obsession with asking “why” maybe it’s in our nature we see kids doing this all the time - though there is a part usually when the questions break down; what if it’s ok at some points in the question to say there is no explanation or just reference stories as they don’t explain what is the case

If it doesn’t have a purpose - why does it exist? This is a sad way to see the universe, but something that we were forced to do, for survival and to just be able to have enough food and shelter to exist as a species- we don’t live this way anymore so why do we do it

It’s the brain - it needs to find the reason why. It’s *why* we always tell ourselves stories when we feel certain things. And why it’s important to know what genre of story you’re telling and know you can always change the genre

But isn’t that the point of asking why? How would you know it’s just because or no explanation if there is no question?

There is a tacit yet fundamental assumption underlying 'why' questions, namely a model of reality consisting of a cascade of discrete events, each caused by the one preceding. In reality, most of what transpires does so continuously in time - just one of the many reasons to prefer posing 'how' questions.

What if we were created with that question embedded in our spiritual DNA? What if particle calls out to particle?

Why we ask why is interesting. My wife asks why to know what’s expected, win, and get the gold star. I ask why so I can map the boundaries and know where the rules can/should be broken for positive effect. Both are illustrative of our respective childhoods. 😂

Maybe this is an issue in the intelectualized world. But asking this question is paramount and under utilized.

Imo asking why is the best thing to go forward. Why are you doing this or that. And if you stop and listen enough you will always know if you are proceeding the direction with your life. Maybe a bit philosophical but why has been so important to me
