I test drove a model S in 2012 and the experience blew me away. But what got me to put a deposit down was when we were back in the store and they opened the hood of the car and where an engine would normally be was just open space. No engine. No fuel tank. No exhaust pipes. I marveled at the engineering. I typically don’t like buying first gen tech bc I’d rather wait for kinks to be ironed out, but this was different. Electric cars wouldn’t be the future if people didn’t buy them, even when it felt risky to.

so crazy how in hindsight it feels the way you learn about Henry ford as a kid and then you hear about his problematic stuff as an adult and are like wow, and it’s like kinda how it happened with musk as well, seemed so naive back then in 2012, that all this horseshit would come to pass, I’d almost never believed it if you travelled back to 2012 me and told me these things are what would happen
