Every time. We rarely go the same place twice — there’s too much to see — and the more we enjoy a place, the more bittersweet it is. They say we should take fewer pictures (I take a lot) and be present in the moment, but they really do help me relive where we’ve been.

My partner brought me to this obscure fishing village called El Palmer, 20 minutes outside of Valencia. I ate horsemeat and the bill didn’t come until the waiters finished their lunch too. The beach was beautiful, quiet, and the sand felt so soft. I was reflecting on exactly that when I was leaving El Palmer - I genuinely would have never discovered that beauty if it were not for him. Solo traveling I do feel a tenderness too. To think that this may be the final time I get to experience the beauty of xyzplace.. or that I’ll only get to experience it a few more times.. I feel tenderness but I also feel grief. And gratitude.
