why don’t people form small groups (3-5) around an interest, create a channel, and cast/reply to each other? 

it could:
1. amplify reach (shared audiences)  
2. create richer, more dynamic discussions (shared effort)
3. build deeper connections  

maybe it feels like extra work or it’s hard to find each other?

instead of person A, B + C casting about topic Y in their own siloes (which happens), it’d be better — for them and for the network — if A, B, C casted in one place and engaged w/ each other.

Bluesky, TikTok algo etc. make it easy to discover discussions on specific topics. hard here, so topics don’t grow.

I wanted this for my friends but I also want it private and it would be better if it was free (since alternatives on WhatsApp/telegram are free and better for chatting)

Yep a private channel would be cool for friends who could reshare stuff from the social network & discuss openly.

Building a channel, a community is a lot of work you have to commit to. I personally try it from time to time but long-term that’s a full-time job and only lucrative if there’s a business case (whether influencer career, token upside, or else).

IMO people here would prefer to follow 5 well-run crypto channels + 1, 2 well-run interest groups + a few tokens & a private channel with friends. (The core team should help seed & manage top channels if there’s no volunteers. Most channels aren’t going anywhere. Crypto Discords & Tg also have (paid) mods - this is missing!)

If you have these top level groups, it’s more likely that you get subgroups. We’ve seen that already happen with previous successful channels like degen (20+ sub-channels) or base (that became unusable).

Also, most people don’t want to put in so much time but consume & enjoy time here (“unregretted time spent”).

that’s a group chat for friends. i’m talking about building a community around a shared interest, more like subreddits or substack groups or Facebook groups.
