Women of farcaster, how does one begin shopping at these very expensive brands. For example, Goyard (I just saw this in ginza but never heard of it), Moncler and other brands that have people in suits standing in front. Do you just walk in one day? celebrities? invites? a friend brought for you in? What is your best explanation and psychoanalysis for how you end up wanting something from there?

okay, i'll go first. that's a personal case. just walk in. i bought an overpriced hermes lip balm a few days ago just bc wanted to see the christmas decorations and i like horses (their shops are very beautiful honouring the history of equestrian roots). the lip balm is so pretty, no functional advantage. but in most cases, i would know in advance what i want to buy from luxury items (mostly shoes and bags for me) so walking in to the shop with some idea of what i want. i would surround myself with nice things if it's accessible for me. not everything should be strictly functional in my life. But i've a rule - not to buy anything that i can not afford. If i need to "save", it's not worth it. Jewelry could be an exception, but i would rather receive it as a gift

It depends. Some have a queue, some are an invitation process, some are both, some are neither. Usually you have a sales associate paired with you the whole time, and if you're after something extremely exclusive it's typically invite only to even see or obtain. A good parallel for something more men may be familiar with are luxury car brands that require a purchase of a lower end model before you have access to buying exclusive ones, like Lamborghini, Ferrari or even Porsche (GT3RS is kind of an inbetween if you've got an in)

someone tag @ sam, he shops luxury just walk in and start talking to the sales associate about what you like or what you’d want to buy, build a relationship with them then if you buy enough, you get onto VIP lists where it’s invite only or you get exclusive access gucci brings clothing directly to their top clients’ home celebrities have private home appointments, shut down the store, or have a separate entrance / section of the store i used to work with luxury brands which is how i know some of this, i can’t bring myself to spend that much $$ on clothing out of principle hahaha luxury fashion/handbags for women is the same as expensive watches for men i think

Try walking in? Being earnest and inexperienced could be endearing enough to get you far.

Just walk in. The people in suits are just guards there to protect the shop and ensure that the number of people inside complies with their policy.
