Generally have a more minimal parenting style and prefer to let em learn through experience but the author of The Sovereign Child took it to a whole new level here. Draw the line on this one cause cause and effect are too indirect, a kid won’t know better.

I started reading this after Naval’s recommendation. What did you think? Too extreme? you found it useful?

I agree—the author misses an educational angle. A fix could be talking with the kid about the dinner menu and getting them involved in making something tasty and healthy. They pick the menu and help cook—more empowering and “sovereign”than mindlessly grabbing ice cream.
