idk, in my experience, it has been 100% net positive for getting to the next step and, more importantly, getting out of my own way / head 

but i think there is a point that it makes it easier for someone to launch before you if they're trying to capture the same mindshare 

still, risk is way < reward

wouldn't advocate ppl working on confidential matters to *build in public* their trade secrets, or services businesses to broadcast their most valuable client lists 

for social + gaming software it's a no brainer bc that feeling of community is super powerful even pre-launch

It depends on what you’re building, really. If you’re trying to do something for fun, to learn, lifestyle business, cultivating a personal brand etc — it may be the better way to go.

For super serious $$$$$$ businesses I would always say don’t do it.
