I'm beginning to see the limitations of CSS for general designs and styles What's the next level above that for the Astro framework? (I can do some design in Figma and Photoshop, plugins welcome)

That’s fair— a hard part of doing something new is knowing what to ask to progress. As Mike said, it all ends up being CSS + HTML at the end of the day. If your goal is to become a strong frontend eng, handwriting CSS will be necessary. Otherwise…

css is very easy and very hard at the same time but CSS is pretty much the only choice unless you want to draw literally every element manually using an HTML Canvas or something (don’t)
