Cobie noted that he ignored this advice and potentially lost $100M, based on the size of the position he could have taken. $TAO is now worth $624 ($4.6B market cap/27th place on Coingecko), whereas two years ago it could be purchased for $15-17 or mined at a cost of $1.

The founders took a page from Satoshi’s book and stepped back from influencing the project, didn’t do any pre-mining, and are mining $TAO for themselves." On January 7, 2022, this same follower updated the information: "I launched Bittensor nodes; mining machine models gives a small emission of $TAO. I bought a lot of TAO, delegating to validators and earning significantly more from it."
