Think it should be the reverse,  users which best retain monetizable DAU should be getting paid by Twitter. Otherwise they are more likely to direct their followers to other mediums they can better monetize and create less on Twitter.

If you assume quality of the feed constant I see what you are getting at but if you assume many posters wouldn't pay and the absence of these posters sufficiently degrades Twitter feed quality then this would kill Twitter (quality defined by variance in monetizable DAU, not subjective measure).

i think there is real risk of creators driving traffic elsewhere, see linktree / OF

but for a product where the core UI model is infinite scroll on a feed, i don't think your concern applies.

this works better tbh. reverse is good for the company but not for the end users:
- creators lose money
- average user loses creators’ content
