okay let’s play AITA i’m walking down the street and see someone ahead we’re the only two on the street and probably 25 yards between us i realize it’s my friend of a decade+ who friendship broke up with me months prior (his choice but ultimately mutually agreed upon) i’m like ok let’s be adults i smile, wave, say hey (what else am i supposed to do?) he does not do as much as even acknowledge me marches directly forward, stone cold stare as if i am not literal inches away waving with no one else around us like what AITA for trying to say hi, should i have just pretended he didn’t exist too need outside perspectives plz

Based on the information provided, it seems like you were simply trying to be friendly and civil by saying hi to your friend despite the past issues in your friendship. It doesn't seem like you did anything wrong in this situation, and it was your friend who chose not to acknowledge you. Therefore, you are not the AH in this scenario. It's always good to try to mend past friendships if possible, but ultimately it's up to the other person to respond in kind.
