What is different about culture now where people complain that things are “cash grabs”? Video games, movies… what has shifted to cause people to get upset that products are made to make money?

specifically US culture, in japan they’d have to apologize for i.e raising profit margins on a product. in the case of games/movies maybe proliferation of freemium

IMO the thing that makes something feel like a “cash grab” vs a normal money-making venture, is that people perceive that profit is the primary/only motive That isn’t to say it’s even true in these cases (like your Moana example), again I think it’s a matter of outside perception
