I really dislike the “nobody reads anymore” take. Feels manufactured by those who make money off of you spending time-on-platform to watch their videos. Sure, not everyone is sitting down reading longform writing or a book every day. But plenty of people do! And others are happy to read short form if it’s of interest (Twitter!).

reading is still the #1 most efficient way to intake information, so people who care about learning still read a lot I firmly believe that people who read are disproportionately people worth reaching, worth talking to

Reading and podcasts are one the easiest ways to fight against the atomization of our attentions.

Book sales are booming. I think its a lazy way to say attention is scarce and you need to make the reading experience worth their attention. ie I hate reading on screens but love love my kindle because its a more cozy experience.

They're saying it deliberately to make us think it's true. But people read. Books are hitting the "Bestseller" mark everyday on Amazon.
