. @ProtocolGuild will announce v2 soon (4 yr vest) IMO time-weighted registries are a simple + powerful primitive for commons/scene funding - we need more experiments! if enough people engage, i'd love to help explore an Ethereum "dev tooling guild" (libraries, SC lang, etc)

@jihad
this might be a dumb question, but do protocol guild members get salaries from other organizations in addition to funding through the guild?

yes, all but a few get salaries from other orgs/teams. PG does a few special things: - one address funds eth commons stewardship wholistically (~26 teams/projects, ~170 individuals) - gives exposure to the broader ecosystem (eth/ salaries can't do this) - funder of last resort in case of pressure from employer

awesome, that’s what i figured. i’ve been reflecting on why we haven’t seen more PG-like experiments, and my gut says that many people are afraid to ask for money in addition to their salaries for the work that they do unless it’s undeniably a public good

probably part of it, but in my experience it's more likely that it takes _a lot_ of work to build consensus internal to the group (membership requirements, consistent eligibility frameworks) and then maintain this well over time. it's a daunting task that requires a committed intra-group + time + bandwidth
