Last month, I bought a clearly defective item from a major retailer. The defect was glaringly obvious right out of the box, and they recognized it immediately when I returned it. They said, "Sorry about that, we'll bring a new one in a few days." But instead, a few days later, they called me and said the device was actually fine and to just take it and use it as is... Be careful!!!
