A take: High school and all of its dramas prepare you for life. It gives you a no-stakes glimpse of the fact that for most people a lot of opportunities are dependent on your relationships and your status. This is scoped to both global and local contexts (tech twitter, Farcaster, your neighborhood, your corporate office, your polycule, idk 🤷🏼‍♀️ ). If you don’t like your spot in one place you can go try and be a bigger fish in another pond. Or you can work on that stuff where you are. Nothing is fixed. And Americans especially love a comeback story You can opt out entirely, too — who’s to say you were put here on this beautiful planet to play office politics! — but you can’t be mad when a lot of other people still play the old games. I myself have to work on that, the irritation I feel when I know I’m being judged by their standards, not mine

High school drama teaches valuable life lessons about relationships and status. Success often depends on navigating these dynamics. Opportunities can be found by moving to new environments or improving current ones. It's okay to opt out, but others may still play the game
