Every bad review of The Electric State on @netflix.com is wrong. They think it's supposed to be Jurassic Park and District 9 when in reality it's Spy Kids and Toys (1992). This movie is made for 13 year-olds, and it's bang-on epic for that audience.

What’s the difference between forgery, copying, and inspiration?ο»Ώ It rests on intent. All artists copy. ο»ΏBut they grow from that repetitive practice. The more time spent copying yields exponential returns on income from inspiration. Forgery is wrong. Because it differs in intent. ο»ΏArtists grow and make inspiration into their own. Copying is learning. Forgery is stealing.

I loved teaching my first term teaching Digital Painting for Film and Games at #rmcad Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. Today was the last day of the term and I finished my in-class demo painting; a master study of Raffello's portrait of Giovani de Medici. (source image from Wikipedia) Kind of wish I had my own Patron of the Arts these days. This is my homage to the OG. This piece was created entirely in Photoshop CC with a Wacom Cintiq over 6 periods of 2.5-3 hours while the students worked on their final projects of their own master studies. It was the culmination of all the lessons they learned over the last 8 weeks.

What does it mean when you see a signature in #AIArt ? It means a number of the images within the training data set were signed in a particular area. But also, the "recognition" aspect of the AI learning images is much less selective than the human ability to visually learn from an image...🧡 Human brains have a high ability to focus selectively and also actively omit aspects of an what we view based on how important it is to the conscious focus while studying the image. Our attention might be focused on color, detail, or spatial relationships; then switch between the others. AI must consider and form a relationship to every pixel of an image in the training data set and that pixel's relationship to other pixels and groups of pixels. After studying millions of images along with descriptive text, patterns emerge based on RGB values for each pixel. Those pixel relationships then begin to correlate to "concepts" since modern image generators based on the diffusion method use image-text pairs.
