Idea for recording : Listeners contribute to a pool for recording. Once the pool exceeds the tipping point it activates recording. You could do some ux trick like always record the first 10 minutes until listeners either hit the tipping point or not.

hi, i see you're using a 3rd party saas for audio handling, and ive seen you say twice now that costs are a concern - i have some experience selfhosting webrtc chat SFU (video and audio) on baremetal, it comes with some tradeoffs but it can save a fuckton of money, feel free to hmu if you ever wanna talk about strategies and options, id be glad to share what little i know!
