When you have OP, it’s flawless. But getting it is a pain. And I wonder how much more distribution creator’s content would’ve got if their writing NFTs were on ETH. 

I’m excited they upgraded to ETH with their new “subscribe to mint” feature.

What do you think of something like Mirror’s writing NFTs living on Optimism?

On one hand I agree about worse distribution and onboarding/UX; but on the other hand, gas on ethereum is very high and less people collect as a result

all this can and will be solved for this year. 

we can shape our reality and L2s are where we can have low-cost, globally accessible NFTs. that's worth fighting for.

You could probably argue this for almost every novel web3 project. Unless you're forking proven protocols for L2 (like Uniswap, ENS, Aave) or you're planning on paying for everybody's gas (Lens), Ethereum mainnet always seems like the way to go.

in general i agree, that being said..

we did a 100 polygon nft drop to a predominantly web2 community 

roughly 30% ended up using them as avatars on nftychat

Great rules of thumb. For my portfolio, it’s ETH or XTZ or nothing…

Couldn’t agree more. At BotFrens we work with many NFT creators and recently we dropped support for Solana and deprioritized development for other chains and L2s. The Ethereum development is stronger than ever :)

This is all true if you only consider organic reach within the ETH ecosystem, but surely all projects (regardless of chain) need to market outside to survive?

Agree with a but.
Just went through the experience of trying to release a purely onchain art series and it cost-prohibitive on eth.

Ive seen a really cool project i want to replicate launch on optimism and i cant get my head around why they didnt just put it on mainnet
