This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple;?the philosophy is kindness.

LOVE MAY NOT MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND, But I must admit that it makes the ride worthwhile.

To be able to love and live in freedom means to be able to make godly decisions. To make godly decisions we have to surrender our egos and all the falsity and shame that goes with it.

People often ask me how I make things funny. I don't make things funny.

If architecture is frozen music then music must be liquid architecture.

ou are 27 or 28 right? It is very tough to live at that age. When nothing is sure. I have sympathy with you.

One thought of thee puts all the pomp to flight, Priests, tapers, temples, swim before my sight.

The stoical scheme of supplying our wants by lopping off our desires, is like cutting off our feet when we want shoes.

I was quite a shy child. I would get terribly nervous and throw up before my birthday party. And then I would be fine. I feel the same now. I get nervous, then it's fine.

Yet higher religion, which is only a search for a larger life, is essentially experience and recognized the necessity of experience as its foundation long before science learnt to do so.

Drawing is like making an expressive gesture with the advantage of permanence.

Ten thousand pounds is the legal value of a negligently taken life, of a child or a parent. A cold and somewhat mean-spirited calculation: you would do better if you slipped on a paving-stone and broke a front tooth.

The country remains dependent on oil. But as we are now learning, oil is becoming increasingly scarce.

When I look back on all the worries I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which never happened.

In Britain, like most of the developed world, stem-cell research is regarded as a great opportunity. America will be left behind if it doesn't change policy.

What greater delight is there than to behold the earth apparelled with plants as with a robe of embroidered works, set with Orient pearls and garnished with the great diversitie of rare and costly jewels. But these delights are in the outward senses. The principle delight is in the minde, singularly enriched with the knowledge of these visible things, setting forth to us the invisible wisdome and admirable workmanship of almighty God.

One of the problems with computers, particularly for the older people, is they were befuddled by them, and the computers have gotten better. They have gotten easier to use. They have gotten less expensive. The software interfaces have made things a lot more accessible.

People write memoirs because they lack the imagination to make things up.

You should be able to afford health care for your family. You should be able to retire with dignity and respect. And you should be able to give your children the kind of education that allows them to dream even bigger, go even farther and accomplish even more than you could ever imagine.

Every man of action has a strong dose of egoism, pride, hardness, and cunning. But all those things will be regarded as high qualities if he can make them the means to achieve great ends.
