What is the point of minting someone's work? (honest question) Minting seems to be a mix of bookmarking, sending money, and publicly liking something. Yet it's a strange bundle that does a mediocre job at each of these ๐Ÿค” Please help me make sense of web3 ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Why a mediocre job of those things? I generally mint articles on mirror as bookmarking / small support for the writer. I feel minting is better than just liking / sharing and I like that itโ€™s tied to an address I do other things with (unlike if I subscribed with credit card for example)

Why a mediocre job? - Unlike e.g., obsidian.md, I can't attach context / organize / share my bookmarks - Unlike e.g., patreon.com, NFTs are only for geeks. There's a lack of features for creators - Unlike e.g., casting "I've loved <link>", it's a weak and noisy signal; It doesn't point to the canonical destination.
