I am interested in hearing from drinkers of decaf coffee. Anything you have to say about it. Don’t imagine there are many of you.

I give benefit of the doubt caffeine is fine for you, maybe good. That said, it‘s a drug, addictive, creates withdrawal. Over time, probably returns one to baseline rather than giving a lift. Decaf offers >2/3 of what I love about coffee — taste + ritual + a fraction of the feeling (~5% as much caffeine + placeb

Sometimes I’ll get a large half original, half decaf coffee because I want the drink to last a while but don’t want so much caffeine.

Cut caffeine in June. Even tea. From 2–3 long blacks (not filter) a day to nothing, with no withdrawal. Occasional decaf cold brew or espresso (2–3/wk) if I miss the ritual or aroma. Enjoy the option to drink any time of day without impacting quality of sleep. Energy levels have run constant throughout the day sinc

former big time coffee professional here (seriously!) if you love coffee for the ritual and the taste (as noted in thread), there's a ton of great decaf out there! i, paradoxically, don't drink much coffee during the day but if i'm past a 2nd cup, it's decaf time. i like: https://www.yesplz.coffee/product/decaf

Been drinking decaf for like 2 months. I drink unlimited coffee at any time of the day it’s a good deal. Caffeine boost are way overrated, in the long run it’s probably better to develop more focus capacity without substances.

I often make espresso macchiatos after dinner with high end decaf beans. Nice way to close out a meal, but caffeine is a no-go that late in the evening.

Did it for a long while to enjoy afternoon coffee, but just couldn’t find quality beans that didn’t irritate me. For whatever reason, my body never responded well to decaf, seemed to have more of an ill-effect than regular beans 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ditto on placebo. It takes you from the bed to your 6am flight without keeping you up on said flight. For example.

I drink decaf in the afternoon. There are some decent beans out there, and the ritual of grinding / brewing is always enjoyable. The key is to keep trying different beans so I don't get bored with the flavor. But that's true for regular coffee as well.
