I would love any hot takes, hard feedback and strong opinions on Zora. I will make and airdrop an edition to anyone who shares their thoughts in a reply to this cast ☼ Give it to me straight :~)

I've always felt a tension between the values you + Zora profess (open protocols, hyperstructures, etc.) and Zora being VC backed Mb I don't fully get your rev strategy but rn it feels like the most likely outcome is Zora builds a ton of great pub infra but fails to capture enough upside to justify a $600m valuation

it’s hard for me to understand what the mission or long-term vision is for Zora. I love the products zora makes, but it feels like they’re all somewhat unrelated to one another

Huge fan of the brand, culture, and ethos. But you need to unbundle into distinct services and find PMF for each. Being “everything” is not a strategy — even Amazon was “a book seller” while they built the infra to “be the everything store”

It would be amazing if the Zora API felt more integrated into the ZDK /Creator tools

Feel like I should be is Zora power user, but I have a hard time articulating exactly what it is or how it’s different

Zora could do more education. Onchain onboarding flows could introduce concepts like signing while providing airdrop incentives (nft badges, poaps, gated content) and exposing more of the Zora ecosystem to new users The Create flow needs to be more descriptive to illustrate the “why” for choosing edition / drop /

Bigger pipeline of projects on the "create" page Most of the sales have ended and it feels a bit stale / not a place of dynamism

It does a lot of things well, LOVE the vision and philosophy, but I don’t know how to think about the ONE thing it solves best in class. Lots of different philosophies on this but I think nailing that one thing is helpful in breaking through to a larger audience

My biggest one is simply difficulty to contact switch from create. to build. etc and how it opens new tabs. I’m not extremely heavy user and have many good things to say.

Similarly to a few of the other comments, I know that Zora does many things but can’t say I know what differentiates Zora from other platforms that provide creator tools. Is Zora mainly an NFT marketplace protocol or is that selling it too short? Btw I really like your logo and Zora Zine.

Huge fan of the aesthetic and brand by osmosis but somehow not converted me to use it. Yet.* A clear USP/message needed to cut through the noise, be that creator tools, marketplace or otherwise. *Will in all likelihood be road testing a mint tomorrow.

Echoing what has been said. I love the hyperstructure and ideas behind Zora, but it feels like it is trying to do too many things at once. What’s it’s main focus, if you only had to pick one thing?

Huge fan of the brand + ethos. At times can be a bit confusing what exactly Zora *is* at its core -- being all things to all people.

On the market page, I've always wondered about the purpose of the nav bar. The nav items take me off the page instead of allowing me to interact more with the marketplace and make my search easier. If I click on the logo, should take me back to zora.co and the rest help my discovery. https://i.imgur.com/V7KTLdM.png

Zora is culture, I love almost everything you do. but it's spread over many islands (zine, marketplace, create,...) that seem to exist side by side without connection

More incentives to build on the protocol. There’s more options for onchain nft protocols now but it was a no brainer to build on Zora last year when everyone else was centralized

It’s actually incredibly difficult to create and mint just 1 NFT. Like, let me upload a JPG, click mint, and have that thang in my wallet in under 2 minutes. But no, I gotta make a collection and do all this other stuff.

one of the success stories of crypto's vibes capitalism era, people i know who have been to zoratopia like it a lot better than fwb events if you're not a crypto scenester it's the nft protocol with the funny engineering twitter account if you don't 'get' the culture it can come off as self-important crypto excess
