4. To grow one’s own following. Not me personally, but do know people who use reciprocation in attempt to juice follower count. Often using follower bots.

honestly i do this all the time. i’m not the purest sns saint. whatever shortens my path to growing @perl , i do it shamelessly unless it’s illegal or hurts people in any way. once it reaches a certain number i stop though. it’s a formulaic dirty deed to form your audience fast.
