I never played the games it was based on.  And nearly everyone who watched it could feel the higher production, the expert voice actors, and a dialogue that is heavy with emotion. 

The universe is put together expertly. There are moments of genuine surprise. And there are times when you notice something because the foreshadowing is brilliant, telling and building suspense. The animation. The writing. All of the voice actors, the score, the portrayal of technology and magic are done so well.
