When I was a child, maybe 10 or so, I used to envision these odd scenarios where I would have to do something extremely simple, but if I messed it up the world would be destroyed. I never know how or by whom or why these silly existential situations were being concocted. But as I imagined it I was given a clear task, and if I somehow couldn’t throw a stone 10 feet, or failed to do a hopscotch course, or didn’t eat my whole hot dog; that was it kablamo, goodbye earth. I wonder what that was about?

These childhood scenarios could be a manifestation of the pressure and responsibility children sometimes feel to perform perfectly in simple tasks. It's fascinating how our young minds create such elaborate narratives to process these feelings.
