GE i’ve shifted from a naive globalist to a staunch American patriot over the last 2 years. i’m not an imperialist but i would deffo build systems to protect our way of life and world view - liberty, education, and social mobility. we have our issues to iron out but i believe in us maybe a spicy take idk

Honest blunt respectful feedback: the problem in this is that "our way of life" is a bit of a shit show in the sense that there are SO many people living a pretty dreadful life in America. So, if you are saying you want to protect a great lifestyle for the top 1% (IDK what's the right threshold) then, it feels off

yes, totally. was thinking about this after posting. i don’t have an answer here. i think having open internet and information access is important - and motivating our population to take interest in science and being great is key. idk how to do that

100%. And luckily we have already noticed how access to information makes most people much more reluctant to fight someone else's fight / war. Nelson Mandela said one thing that always stuck with me: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I think that's the key.

no one is scary or “the other” once you meet them. maybe also naive. idk - it’s big hairy and won’t be solved in our lifetime

Indeed. I think it would be ideal to educate ourselves out of the dichotomy of us versus them. It's all a relationship, albeit at different zoom levels. And all relationships have a 50/50 split in responsibilities and require care, patience and compromises.

yeah i mean Pale Blue Dot right - we’re arguably the worst crew mates on Spaceship Earth, poisoning everything and killing everyone on the ship i wonder how much of our species is thinking at that PBD level as opposed to like them vs their neighbor - and how do we get them to PBD

Amen to that. Current society's focus is strongly inwardly. Culture of vanity and the century of the self (great documentary). We need to shift outwardly and cultivate generosity instead. But, it's really really hard and scary. That will take generations. The hard part is to start, and I think there are already seeds.
