Actual chances aside and hypothetically: how does society respond in the first 1-3 months of confirmed aliens? Feels like there would be a large existential crisis to some extent.

I would buy a shotgun. No for aliens. Everything will be a chaos. Police will desert the first day. Army maybe too. That's assuming WE do not attack first. Then, it is the end of Humanity
