I'm a fan of Adobo Boba Chai Children's ABC Book (buy on amazon) and excited there are new books being Kickstarted. If you or a friend would like a set of Asian-themed Children's books please consider supporting: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/angelhalochang/the-adobo-boba-chai-collection-a-childrens-book-set

I lived in the Alphabet district of Portland, OR for about a year and while the city as a whole wasn't my vibe, my neighborhood was amazingly walkable, had great restaurants, grocery, access to downtown, and hip young people like me (at the time ~10y ago).

Someone always has to (inconveniently) pay down the entropy. You find a way to make entropy reduction convenient (and/or profitable), then that would kind of fuck up the natural order of the universe. eg this web game "Universal Paperclips": https://decisionproblem.com/paperclips/

Will be a daily driver for coding, email, twitch/amazon prime, notes, music. With Framework, I figure I can add dedicated graphics / more storage / ram if necessary later on.

My kiddo isnt old enough to experience this yet, but I suspect in this situation, we would invite the other parents to come over with their kids once in awhile. This would indirectly increase the passive costs to them of sending their kids over and they could help adult. Its a bit passive aggressive, I know.

Thats an interesting thought. When did we stop "going online".... now we "go offline" since "online" is the default. No one goes "surfing the web" anymore (a dumb mixed metaphor to begin with) since we are always connected. Do we go "surfing IRL?" Whats a dumb metaphor for that? "Meat Strolling?"

Thats an interesting thought experiment... what does a world where 10% (nearly double today's) interest look like? - more underground/under the table biz transactions - more illicit products and services - more cash-only or 7 day payment terms - thriving biz's have ultra short payback periods, cash conversion cycles

BTW, our levy passed. I didnt do door-to-door, but I did speak at the local city council public hearing, donate some moneys, and put up some yard signs. My kiddo isn't even in the public school system for a few more years so I'll pay taxes without a near term benefit, but I'd rather not let the school fall behind.

I should probably be transparent in that I'm of mixed opinion about there being a profit motive baked in to the protocol layer that relies on user engagement to create value. But being optimistic about blockchain technology, I'd be happy to be wrong about the above skepticism. I'm rooting for you!

Right. That was presumptuous of me. They probably should expect 80x, given the growth of Farcaster, right? 😉

Farcaster is officially VC-backed by a16z and others! Congrats! I'm curious what the unit economics will look like and what kind of CAGR is necessary to earn a 40x return to investors? https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7198714989325561856/

AltCoin that can only be mined on your phone while you are driving your car, app is in the foreground and/or display is off. Uses GPS and bluetooth connection to car to meter. If you get in to an accident, all your coins are burned. Coins can be used to pay for auto insurance, car repairs, gasoline, or new cars. /alts

A [social media platform] that seeks your trust for an algorithmic feed needs Ulysses pacts, or it will inevitably yield to the temptation to enshittify. https://pluralistic.net/2024/05/11/for-you/#the-algorithm-tm
