PSA Expect to see your follower count drop slightly tomorrow. We're expiring casts, reactions and follows from ~3500 inactive users who haven't logged in since February. Without updated signatures from these users, we can't migrate their data to Hubs. 1/2

Here I am a day later realizing I dont even know what my follower count is and why I should notice or care if it changes. Is it diagnostic as a metric? Or vanity? Would social networks be better without vanity metrics?

Twitch streamers frequently say they dont look at their viewer count while streaming and actively avoid it. Maybe they are on to something.
