why are we, as purple app users, missing out on all the big CT trends? not only that, but missing out on massive meta shifts that are happening on OUR VERY OWN CHAIN how could this be? yeah, listen, i don’t know how many times i can say this: there are 5k of us—it has nothing to do with the tech, it has nothing to do with culture—it has everything to do with the fact that there are 5k of us… this a unicorn app & there are 5k of us… more than 2 years in… and there are 5k of us—made even worse now given the fc top funnel thesis is materializing with the frames upgrade culture? culture was the <20k FIDs acting wildly elitist towards newcomers all through february & march culture was shunning degen because it spammed your precious 5k user feed—the only project that had sustainably brought in more users culture was ignoring big CT accounts that came here because “new giants would rise” culture was letting bots dilute anything & everything meaningful, including engagement itself

this is exactly what happens… we miss news, we miss opportunities… people go elsewhere soon this bleeds into development.. then we lose devs due to lack of user growth then we have a brain drain & lose our critics & thinkers as engagement dwindles i have suggested ways to grow users…practical & pragmatic solutions… as has many of us there is nothing else we can do… they don’t want to listen to their users if daus do not growth over the next 3-4 months, if there is no UA, no marketing, no eco fund, no massive grant program, no affiliate program, no nothing… the future looks bleak we all literally all betting that one app or one token goes viral… that it breaks out & brings in new users… that is our bull case… with no help from the purple app, it all rests in the hands of a dozen or so cracked devs who are building here simply because of their ideological beliefs lord knows these devs are not getting enough recognition… carrying a unicorn on their back

this is gud, i agree with most of this and call to action is really what this place needs above all else awkward podcast with zoomer aint gonna cut it i do expect farpaster to lean into tokenisation a lot more now that the SEC is basically defunct, it was sad to see how tipping became treated as spam when that simple functionality is a great showcase of fc

i miss everything because im not doing an effort to pay attention tbh. i don’t want to be the next trend. i want to create something timeless. and for that, being here, serves my needs. at least it has until now. economically and in terms of human connection. i feel what you say, but i also feel it’s all good. if farcaster is truly bringing something transformative to humanity, that will play out and we will all be in the front row, making it happen. and if not, and this thing disappears in one year, it will also be all good.

which trends are we talking from CT obvious that more trends come from where more people are located but even if we keep being small and keep building - something surely going to pop how can you compete when Elon owns twitter and every known celebrity and politician is on there

I think the simplest things are the most likely (hopefully) to happen in the New Year. - remove the onboarding fee - start spending the war chest on user acquisition I still think they were waiting on these upgrades (new Frames, etc) and the calendar to turn in order to do it. Also guessing Clanker is a bit of a tailwind as well, as it gives them the ability to focus away from things that are token related; still think they airdrop tho, and make it a meaty one : )

hmm, hard truth. i love people who are critical because I have a hard time doing so. i just created an X account last month just so i can support frens from FC on X and i quickly noticed how SO much more is happening over there in the crypto space. i never knew CT until now, and i get how it is what it is. i joined FC in March so I can confirm that those accounts were different back then. But i do think it was because of labels such as power badges, spam, shadowban, etc that fueled the lack of interaction with newcomers. once the PBs were removed, it was a game changer. there were people i would engage with that would never respond to me, and now they are following me. however, there were also some who responded and followed me regardless of those labels - absolute legends! it looks like bots/farmers are not easy to handle in general but whatever was done recently, has also been a game changer. i don't see much of it at all compared to before.
