so many replies in this post uncovered some blind spots for me. i wish i could've done this a long time ago.

I was wandering in /tabletop but still doesn't understand its goals. I'd think it would be better to have a brief documentation or link to a video on channel for newcomers. That way they may be more interested.
I think free engagement with giveaways are cool for newcomers too.
