This is Egusi soup commonly consumed in West Africa, Focusing on Nigeria; The word Egusi is derived from the Yoruba language, While its is pronounced as Egwusi soup by the Ibo tribe of Nigeria. The general English word for it is melon seeds.
It has a rich, creamy and nutty flavor, usually prepared with variety of meat, fish and leafy greens or other vegetables, all cooked in a flavored broth.
It is also eaten with swallow such as fufu, pounded yam, eba, semovita, amongst others.
