In many industries, the incentives aren’t aligned. Some parts of the industry have adapted to the times and others are stuck in the past. When does an empire die? It dies when no one believes in it anymore. I believe that live entertainment is at a tipping point. Cancellation after cancellation shows that something is wrong. Government grants are band-aids, they aren't going to the root cause. (1/2)

Most marketers will tell you that there are 2-5% 'superfans' who will spend and engage the most will drive the majority of your revenues and that you should continue to 'squeeze' more out of these fans. I'm afraid that's not right.
