I was thinking about UX concepts of paywalls and subscriptions. And thought of this concept of time.

What if you bought time to use a product instead of a subscription?

Want to read this and only this article on a newswebsite? Buy 5min.

Want to spend 10h scrolling away on a platform? Buy 10h. 

If I pay for month I could use the product for a month in time not a month in days. Meaning if I don’t use it the clock doesn’t tick.

Just thought that in a way it's similar to what Amazon does with AWS 

But instead, it's like pay as you go. I guess they are both different.

What do you think about buying time vs. subscriptions?

buying time make sense as long as you don't have to go through whole pay txns (signing, verifying, waiting, etx.)  every single time....

haha exactly and you need pause to buy time and it would take 2-3 mins….you can’t lose that momentum 🤣

This would be inconvenient for Netflix, Disney+, etc. where it's convenient to have a subscription. Imagine running out of time balance and the movie is just 20 minutes away from ending 😅
