'the casino' has mostly turned into a dingy warehouse of cheap slot machines, with the stench of stale smoke and decay, lined with people on their last hopes until they are washed out

carnivals have rich experiences that people dip into to have fun. they're full of rides, games, crazy food and yes, often a casino game or two. 

they have variety. they have weirdness. most importantly they designed for fun, instead of preying on hope
