End of an era. The large branch that fell off our 100+ year old maple tree. It’s the same branch that holds the rope swing, seen in the picture. I was out on my porch cooking dinner on the grill when it happened. First thing that alerted me was the loud pops and cracks. I looked up and witnessed it crashing into the tree in our neighbor’s yard. That must have slowed it significantly because when it made contact with the utility line, it only stretched and bowed it instead of snapping it in two.

It's pathetic 😔 I am always terribly sorry when they cut off branches from beautiful old trees to keep them from falling, but I understand that it's a necessity to prune dry branches in time.

My wife had previously asked me to call someone to come out and look at our trees. Didn't get the call made in time to save this branch. Will call today and hopefully they can save the rest of the tree.
