If there’s one e/acc cause for which the tech ~exists and the benefit is immediately obvious, it’s self-driving cars.

This is an obvious benefit to society yet the media will demonise self-driving cars as soon as there's a fatality, and the tech hating government will then introduce onerous legislation. (see also nuclear power)
