Alright, since I have the qualifications of being 1/3 professional chef, maybe we do an AMA about cooking or your burning questions about food? I was in culinary school for a year and finished the first of three parts to become a certified red seal chef. I still have all my textbooks and recipes, so fire away!

I like cooking but only do it as an activity once every couple of weeks, and it basically takes me a whole day to shop for and make a meal (dinner for example) What are some staple ingredients I can buy and keep in the fridge to make a variety of core meals regularly? Tips to reduce overhead for cooking daily meals?

If you have the time or the budget I would highly recommend something like HelloFresh. Most of their recipes take 30 to 40 minutes. Otherwise you could get frozen veggies like carrots, broccoli and others and also freeze meat. Meat can last 6 to 7 months, veggies 4-5

I do have the time and budget for something like hello fresh, but I want to reduce shopping waste as much as possible and also try to shop local Though I agree that something like hello fresh is the best ramp up to actually start cooking regularly
