for exchanges:
- implement multi-sig wallets and cold storage
- regular security audits
- real-time monitoring systems
- strict kyc/aml procedures
- insurance funds for user protection

for users:
- use hardware wallets for significant holdings
- enable 2fa (preferably not sms-based)
- unique strong passwords
- never share private keys
- verify withdrawal addresses carefully
- consider self-custody for long-term holdings
