1. roll your clothes instead of folding them - saves so much space! 
2. always carry a portable charger. nothing worse than a dead phone when you're trying to navigate a new city.
3. download offline maps. google maps lets you do this and it's a lifesaver when you have no signal.
4. pack a reusable water bottle. most airports have refill stations now.
5. use apps like Hopper or Skyscanner to find the best flight deals.
