currently navigating! the path is def. opening up, though v. slowly. we're launching an actual equity token, so biggest question on the table right now is tax treatment. still (cautiously) waiting to see how the market structure bill shapes out!

100% agree w/these points. but maybe the framing here should be less about [crypto companies] monetizing, and more about the [end-user] actually paying for the service/infra. b/c the closer we can get to end-users directly paying for their usage, the further we can move away from the power dynamics of the web2 model.

people are calling Vana "the Robin Hood of data" because they're enabling end-users to liberate their personal data from walled gardens and use it to train a number of AI models within Vana's network. but some big tech companies, like Reddit, are already pushing back, claiming that Vana is "'exploiting' [their] data export system, which is designed to comply with data privacy regulations like the GDPR and California Consumer Privacy Act." idk...what do you all think? I smell a big legal battle coming on! but would love to hear any thoughts / predictions on how this might play out πŸ‘€ https://techcrunch.com/2024/04/13/vana-plans-to-let-users-rent-out-their-reddit-data-to-train-ai/

this is incredible! finally a crypto policy taxonomy! I'm a big believer that "privacy" as a category should be broken down into separate (or sub) categories though, in order to distinguish "data privacy" from "financial privacy" which feel like completely different spheres

this has always been such an interesting & under-explored topic area! I'm not 100% sure how it might work, but I do know that programmable tax collection will likely look very different for different transactional environments: i.e. permissioned (where the identity of the individual is known) vs. permissionless systems
