The Olympics felt more washed this year

Like a grand tradition that doesn’t quite live up to its past years’ glory

Thinking it might be correlated with the general breakdown of the current world order, and may be yet another signal of a rearrangement to come

Is it just me, or anyone else feel this vibe?

Indeed, but I think it is attributable to our generally fragmenting attention economy. The Olympics was most meaningful when it was a collective event that we were all focused on together. When I was a kid that was the case. I remember sitting in rapt attention with not just my family but the whole neighborhood watching 100M sprints and other events. 

Now I would say a majority of people I know are paying little to know attention to the Olympics and are focused on a dozen other smaller things. The grandeur is clearly seeping away with each generation. The old world is dying and the new is still struggling to be born.

Honestly felt it was one of most spectacular ever. In this day and age you can find what you want. without Peacock app on ur TV, it’d be hard to find good coverage. With it, feels like you are very close to everything.

Honestly can’t imagine a better city and set of venues. Looked like production during events was A+ as well. I imagine most who didn’t like it were influenced in some level by RT International.

Paris as a backdrop and France hosting did a magnificent job! 

I’ve never seen a more artistic torch than the ballon one and the opening ceremony around the Siene was amazing. Whoever didn’t enjoy it probably didn’t have the right programming. 

NBC did a magnificent job. 

Watching Serbia and France play the US basketball was the best basketball I’ve seen in years! 

The WFH crowd benefits a lot of these European time zones.
