Converting old malls into a housing community is an interesting concept. I always think I'd like a little more space between me and my neighbors, but I can also see the pros such as housing for homeless people and those with mobility issues. What do you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1GIF6VNipE&list=WL&index=8

My thoughts are: weird, cool Definitely see the value of a remodel in a denser urban context like providence. The mall itself was probably not as sprawling as suburban lots, lending itself better to a residential component. Truly suburban malls though, it’s wasteful, but I feel like clearing the site and building back a multiuse development project wouldn’t provide everyone with more effective space.

With your background in architecture, did you know about this? Someone in the comments on the YT vid mentioned how the inventor of malls came to hate them. I found that fascinating and had to look it up. https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2022/jun/24/bastard-developments-inventor-world-first-shopping-mall-denounced
