One of the harder questions to answer is “do I actually have a right to play here, or do I just want to play here?” It's hard b/c were good at obfuscating our reality. Its worth asking the hard questions early.

Do you believe you can always earn that right if you're willing to pay the price? re: seth godin's concept of "the dip" -> if you're going to give up before you can be the best in the world at what you do, don't do it. Is not giving up enough of a right to play? What gives somebody the right to play in your view?

Depends how you define the field. I could never earn the right to compete in the NBA, but I probably could have for high school varsity (I’m 5’ 6”). If you have to ask, the answer is “no”. I generally agree with Seth.
